Day 1: Tirana Airport – Apollonia – Vlora
After the pickup at the Tirana International Airport, we will start our journey towards Vlora. Let’s make a stop at the Ardenica Monastery dating to 1417.
Proceed to the ancient city of Apollonia situated on the famous Via Egnatia. Did you know, it was one of the most important cities during the Roman times?
Afterward, the group will move to Vlora, the town of Albanian Independence. It is well-known for its hospitality and turquoise water beaches. Your dinner and accommodation will be there.
Day 2: Vlora – Butrint – Saranda
After breakfast, we will depart to Saranda. The drive will be along the Albanian Riviera with a beautiful view of the Ionic Sea. Stunning landscapes are awaiting us at Llogara Pass, about 1000 meters above sea level.
The group will continue going to Saranda where we will visit the ancient city of Butrint, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city was first settled by the Illyrian tribe of Caonians and was continuously inhabited for centuries forming archaeological layers of passing civilizations.
Now it is on a beautiful peninsula among dense vegetation of the Butrint National Park. We will have dinner and an overnight stay in Saranda.
Day 3: Saranda – Gjirokaster – Berat
In the morning, the group will go by our minibus to Berat. We will have a stop in Gjirokaster. This city also belongs to UNESCO thanks to its distinct architecture. We are going to visit the Gjirokaster Fortress, which dominates the town. Today it is used as the venue for the National Festival of Folk Songs and Dance and has a Museum with weapons from the WWII.
Afterward, you will see the Ethnographic Museum, which is also the birth house of the Albanian dictator Enver Hoxha.
Let’s have lunch in a great traditional restaurant. After the meal, we’ll depart to Berat, so-called “The 1000 windows city” is a UNESCO Heritage site. In the afternoon you would explore the center of Berat independently. We’ll stay here at night.
Day 4: Berat – Durres – Tirana
After breakfast, we’re going to visit Berat Castle and Onufri Museum. The castle is particularly impressive Some local people still live within the castle walls in their traditional houses as their ancestors did for centuries. 7 churches of 40 have remained there. One of them is turned into Onufri Museum. Onufri was an Albanian Icon master painter of the 16th century who painted many Orthodox churches in Albania and Greece and Venice.
After this cultural experience, we will depart to Durres to stop for lunch by the seaside. Durres is one of the oldest and largest cities in Albania (it’s founded in 627 B.C.).
We take a sightseeing tour of the Amphitheatre situated in the middle of the modern city in an inhabited area.Afterward, we will continue to Tirana and take a sightseeing tour of the highlights. We’ll stay overnight in Tirana.
Day 5: Tirana – Kruja – Koman Lake – Valbona
After an early breakfast, we will start our journey to Valbona – the hidden gem of Albania. Located in the heart of the Alps, tourists admire Valbona for its fresh air and crystalline water.
On the way, we will stop in Kruja Castle, the birthplace of the Albanian hero Skanderbeg. The way to the castle comes through the characteristic old bazaar. Visit the Skanderbeg Museum, and we will move forward.
Let’s go to the north. We will stop a coffee at the Koman Lake, while we wait for the ferry. The Koman Lake is one of the best lake trips in the world and a must-see attraction in the Balkans.
After two hours of breathtaking landscapes fiords of the Koman Lake, we drive to our hotel in Valbona.
In the evening we will have a traditional Albanian alpine dinner.
Day 6: Valbona – Prizren – Tirana
After breakfast in the refreshing Valbona, we will head to Prizren in Kosovo. It is one of the most beautiful cities of Kosovo with distinctive architecture.
After the visit of the old town and market, we continue our journey to Tirana, where we accommodate at the hotel. You would spend the night in Tirana exploring the city or having a cup of high-quality espresso.
Day 7: Tirana – Airport
Our service ends up with today’s breakfast and transfers to the airport.
